This video was taken as I watched Wrens in the Sidmouth Community Food Forest. But how many are there? Clearly there is one in the main frame of the video, but how many can you count in the background vegetation?
Wrens Are Exceptional Birds
There are apparently 96 species of wren worldwide. In England we have the Eurasian Wren, Troglodytes troglodytes. At first glance it is a dull little brown bird. But up close the delicate markings show clearly and are really quite magnificent.

The diet of our wrens consists of insects and spiders in summer, with berries and seeds in winter when insect life is scarce. Many people rarely if ever see a wren, but they are in fact very common and occur across the whole of the UK with only one or two places in the Highlands where they aren’t recorded.
