It’s the time of year when the shortest day, the winter solstice, collides with various religious festivals. From Christmas and Hannukah to the Sikh remembrance of the Martyrdom of Ajit and Juihar Singh amongst others.

Whichever you celebrate, or if none at all, I wanted to add my thanks to everyone that has read my website articles, joined my various Facebook groups, bought my books or attended a course with me. Without you, none of this would exist.

This year has seen many websites being hit hard by AI. Many people now use AI to search for answers, indeed, I use it myself. The problem is that AI often hallucinates and gives answers that are questionable, untrue or downright clickbait lies. It is why I fact check all my material by referencing back to verifiable university and/or research station reported scientific papers. So, though I have also seen a decrease in search traffic coming to the website my “regulars” continue to visit, indeed the numbers grow.
This means that my “All Time Favourite” posts keep getting web traffic and that is a healthy situation to be in. Plus I keep adding new articles every week. This year I have written 150 articles plus updated some of my older pieces where needed with new varieties and evidence.
But I don’t want my website to become a relic. I want it to move forward with new ideas, new topics and new ways of presenting it. This has led me to start running courses plus giving talks to gardening groups. And to present these in a fresher way, devoid of bullet point boredom I decided to produce infographics. It is something I used to do my marketing clients after I sold my market garden, but in those days it was a longwinded ponderous affair. today, though it takes time, it is less arduous than before.
So, from time to time, I will be adding infographics to my articles. The aim is to make them very concise and encapsulate a lot of quality advice on one side of paper. But I also want them to be good enough to print out and hang on the shed door as a reminder of the more important details.
In January I hope to launch something new. But much of it depends on being able to master the technology and build a =new section on my website over the next few weeks. More news on that next year .. if all goes well.
Finally, I often get asked to recommend books and I have reviewed a few on the website. But there are hundreds of new gardening books being published every month and many of them are superb. Some I include on the shelves of my online bookshop at The Gardening Guy. I have hand-picked the best titles to save you time, or you can browse millions of other books in the full collection. Enjoy your next gardening year.
